If you have some clothes or household items that you no longer need, consider donating them to American Kidney Services (AKS). We collect used items on behalf of the American Kidney Fund (AKF), a publicly supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1971 with a mission to fight kidney disease, AKF provides direct financial support to American dialysis and transplant patients in need. AKS has several conveniently located donation drop-off points in the Dallas, Texas, area—just bring your items to any Value World thrift store during the store’s regular business hours, and AKS will take it from there!

Your Donation Drop-Off Is More Important Than You May Know

Your generous donation drop-off at Value World will be used to fund the critical vision of AKF. Consider that dialysis patients face many unique hardships, especially as they navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to their underlying medical condition, these individuals are at high risk for serious illness if they become infected with the novel coronavirus. And unlike many other people, they cannot stay home because they cannot postpone their life-sustaining treatments.

Likewise, post-transplant patients must take immunosuppressive medications that increase their susceptibility to diseases like coronavirus. These patients are in dire need of funds to help cover the costs of their lifesaving prescription medications, “kidney-friendly” foods, and transportation to and from their treatment sessions.

In the past several months, AKF has received an unprecedented number of requests for assistance. Through its newly established Coronavirus Emergency Fund, AKF is making emergency grants to kidney disease patients to help lessen the financial impact they are facing in these challenging times. Your donation drop-off can make a true difference in the lives of these deserving patients and their families!
